| 1670556 | #4583 | Desakralisasi Makna Keris: Studi Etnografi Pada Ahli Waris Keris | Lestari, Siti Putri |
Kris has been known as a sacred object; and often passed down by the owner to their descendants as inheritance. Through this process the assumption about Kris as the sacred object is maintained. However, nowadays, people no longer consider Kris as a valuable and sacred object as before, and some of them refuse to inherit a Kris from their parents. This research describes the meaning of Kris for people who inherit it from their parents and ancestors; what is their attitude toward Kris and how their attitude may represent the desacralization of Kris. This research was conducted in an ethnographic approach. Data collected through observation, in-depth interviews and literature review. Clifford Geertzâs symbolic interpretation theory was used as the framework of analysis. Findings of this research suggest that the heirs of Kris often interpret it as an ordinary object; and they no longer view the essence and nobility of Kris. This view leads them to develop skepticism towards the mystical phenomenon of Kris. Sometimes, they even refuse to inherit Kris due to social, cultural and religious considerations. In some cases, they consider Kris as a burden to them. These phenomena demonstrated how Kris loses its sacred dimension nowadays.

This paper discusses the relationship between ethnic identity and diversity management by the state, based on the case of the Indo people in the Netherlands. As descendants of mixed-marriage between persons from different ethnic groups who were also unequals in Netherland-Indies colonial society, their citizenship status changes from the colonial period to the decolonization period in the Indies, and eventually in the post-colonial Netherlands. The data is obtained from a qualitative research that consists of literature study and interviews with Indo people and an Indo organization in The Netherlands. Indo identity and culture contain âforeignnessâ and ânativenessâ, which could bring advantages or disadvantages, or even threaten their very existence, in different contexts of diversity management by the state. The study found different practices of indoness between three Indo generations in the Netherlands. Intergenerational Indo experiences has constructed a relatively open disposition among the younger generation on their identity and tolerance towards others in the increasingly multicultural Netherlands.

Like rubbing salt into the wounds, the government stakeholders and media use bootleg liquor (oplosan) as a proof to their rational misconception to corner the victims or communities, saying that they have âlow awareness of the danger of alcohol.â It seem that they, the government and media, ignore its intricate structures which enable those deadly liquors to flare. This paper, therefore, would like to observe broader picture of the reality of alcohol in a society, focusing on the ignored dimensions of dominant discourse. Keywords : Alcohol, culture, rationality, bootleg liquor (oplosan)

| 1670546 | #4583 | Sosialisasi Kekerasan Berbasis Gender: Studi Etnografi pada Yayasan Jaringan Relawan Independen |
Najla, Amanda Naura Hermawati, Rina |

Climate change requires people to find the best strategy to adapt. One way to find an effective strategy is to identify knowledge about climate and climate change in the community. This knowledge is inseparable from the gender dimension. By understanding the gender dimension in knowledge about climate and it changes in society, this study can contribute to find effective adaptation strategies in coping climate change. This article was written using the literature study method, by classifying and analyzing secondary data from various article sources in the form of case examples in various regions. The results show that there are differences between women's and men's knowledge about climate, both how to predict the weather and climate, as well as changes in climate variability and the causes of change. In terms of climate predictions knowledge, women pay more attention to climate prediction indicators in the neighborhood where they live, while men pay more attention to climate prediction indicators around the fields where they work. In terms of knowledge about climate change, there are differences in knowledge about the causes of climate change. Women have less knowledge about the causes of climate change than men. This is because women experience limited access to education and sources of information. A just and sustainable climate adaptation strategy needs to take gender dimensions into account and involve women and men equally, because gaps in the level of knowledge will hinder strategies for adapting to climate change.

| 1670541 | #4583 | Perubahan Peran Seniman dalam Dinamika Ruang Publik di Taman Ismail Marzuki (1968-2018) | Rinjani, Niken Flora |
This paper shows how physical reconstructions and managerial development of the Jakarta Arts Center -Taman Ismail Marzuki (PKJ-TIM), have changed the role of artists at that arts center. TIM which has been established for 50 years is the largest arts center in Jakarta, and eventually became a hub for national and international artistic exchanges. This study uses a conceptual framework relating the locality to supralocal structures, to see TIM as a public space as well as a social space that form the sense of place among the artists. The research method used is ethnography. Data was collected through participant-observation, in-depth interviews, literature reviews, and documentation. The study found that social relationships between artists and their peers inside and outside of TIM, the TIM management, the public at TIM and with the physical environment of TIM, create a sense of place for artists. There are differences in the role of TIM artists in the past (during the reign of DKI Jakarta Governor Ali Sadikin) and at present, following subsequent shifts of DKI Jakarta administration. The place has undergone several restorations. The role of artists in TIM has been slowly reduced from being active actors and managers of art activities at TIM, to only being art performers. The changes have decreased the artistsâ interest of TIM as a center for their artistic enterprise. In the artistsâ language, TIM has become a place for art activities that lose the spirit of artistry. In conclusion, changes in the artistsâ role at the TIM is related to the wider structure, namely the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta, and their relations with fellow artist and arts institutions at the local, national, and even international level.

Utami, Fathya Tyas Yudila Meiyenti, Sri Yunarti, Yunarti |
Small talk serves as a societal effort to foster interactions among individuals. This linguistic habit plays a vital role in maintaining the stability of social interactions. A similar phenomenon is observed in Pulau Penyengat, where small talk is deeply ingrained in the community's daily life. Instead of using the conventional phrase "how are you," the people of Pulau Penyengat employ a unique term, "tak ade". This term opens a window into understanding the patterns of small talk and its significance in the lives of the island's residents. This qualitative study employs an ethnographic approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and literature review. The analysis involved three stages: data reduction, triangulation, and verification or conclusion drawing. The findings reveal four distinct patterns of small talk in Pulau Penyengat: speech context, actor patterns, pronunciation patterns, and the usage patterns of "tak ade". Additionally, the research identifies a categorization of community groups based on how they interpret "tak ade" in their small talk habits. These groups consist of the noble Melayu and the commoner Melayu.
